A source close to Judge Rizgar Amin said he would oversee the next session due on January 24 and then announce his reasons for withdrawing, Reuters reported. Asked why the Kurdish judge wanted to quit, the source said "It is too difficult."
Meanwhile, Iraq's electoral commission won't publish final results from December 2005's election in coming days because the panel is waiting on international monitors to finish investigating fraud complaints, a senior Iraqi election official said Saturday, according to the AP. "It is impossible to have the final election results this week," Safwat Rashid, a senior member of the Independent Electoral Commission of Iraq told The Associated Press.
