The Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA) will be the first Middle Eastern government to sponsor the European Foundation for Quality Management Forum (EFQM 2010), which takes place in Bilbao, Spain from 4-6 October 2010.
The DMA is participating in the event to raise international awareness of its ‘Journey to Excellence’ programme, which is designed to enhance municipal customer service and performance through the introduction of better processes, quality management and improved information sharing.
Commenting on this sponsorship and participation, H.E. Rashid Mubarak Al Hajeri, Chairman of the DMA said: “Attending and sponsoring the EFQM 2010 falls in line with our leader’s vision to adapt best global excellence tools and techniques as a reliable methodology to become one of the top five governments in the world.“
The DMA’s participation builds on its attendance at EFQM 2009 that took place in Brussels with a theme of ‘The Power of a Connected World’.
“The DMA is working hard towards creating strategic partnerships with international entities. By having a distinctive role in international events such as EFQM, we can learn about others’ experiences whilst showcasing both the Abu Dhabi government’s excellence experience and the DMA’s experience specifically.” said H.E. Ahmed Shareef, Undersecretary of the DMA.
His Excellency, Mohamed Al Dhaheri, Executive Director, Support Services, Department of Municipal Affairs said: “We are proud to be the first Middle Eastern organisation to sponsor the EFQM forum, where many European public and private entities are gathered to share business excellence knowledge and best practices. For the second year in a row, we are committed to establishing business linkages and government to government partnerships that will act as a motivation for us to keep progressing on our journey towards excellence.”
