Technical and managing directors of the Jordanian Wehdat Club submitted on Tuesday their resignation letters in protest of the club’s approval of selling their midfielder Abdullah Abu Zama' to Qatar's Kura club for US $60.000.
Wehdat’s technical manager, Ezzat Hamzeh told Albawaba that "giving away one of the most important and dynamic midfielders in the region against that little amount of money is not a fair deal for a player like Abu Zama'."
Jordanian soccer players seem to be in the spotlight these days, and are receiving more offers to join Arab soccer teams, “due to their talents and impressive performances,” said Wehdat's media consultant, Salim Hamdan,
“thus they should be valued reasonably. Selling them for a couple of thousands is underestimation."
However, the decision was taken by vote as six members of Wehdat's administration body approved the deal, while the other five rejected it. The one-year-contract supply the club with a sum of $40.000, whereas Abu Zama’ will get $20.000, in addition to the other benefits including a car and accommodation upon his arrival to Qatar.
For his part, Abu Zama' seemed satisfied with the offer. "I guess it is good enough for a start," he said, “a 1000-mile journey starts with one step.”
Meanwhile, Wehdat's club received a second proposal for the same player from the UAE’s Club Alwasl, which intended to come up with a better offer than Kura's, but the twenty-four years old player said he has not read the offer, though he prefers to keep his promise to the Qatari club - Albawaba.com
