Russia's Middle East envoy Andrei Vdovine held talks in the capital city of Amman on Sunday with Jordan's Foreign Minister Marwan Moasher on fresh efforts to put an end to the more than two-year Israeli-Palestinian conflict, officials said.

They reviewed a "roadmap" backed by the so-called diplomatic quartet of the United States, Russia, the European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN) to get the sides back to peace, they said, cited by AFP.

The plan calls for a provisional Palestinian state by next year and a definitive one by the year 2005. In addition, it calls for an end to Palestinian attacks and an Israeli army withdrawal from reoccupied Palestinian cities. (Albawaba.com)
