Jordan’s criminal court on Wednesday sentenced two Egyptian nationals to death, including one tried in absentia, after convicting them of robbing and murdering a compatriot in Amman in December 1998, reported the Jordan Times newspaper.

The tribunal sentenced to death Wasef Mohammad, 28, a construction worker, for robbing and killing his colleague, Munir Saber, on December 24, 1998.

His colleague, Imad Said, also a construction worker, who was tried in absentia, received a similar sentence for complicity in the murder, said the paper.

Wednesday's verdicts will automatically be reviewed by a higher court within 30 days, the paper said - Albawaba.com
