Jordan king to visit Libya for talks

Jordanian King Abdullah II headed to Libya Sunday as ‏‏part of a four-nation tour that also includes the United States, Japan and Singapore, where he is expected to hold talks with leaders on the Arab-Israeli peace process, the ‏situation in Iraq and bilateral relations.‏   

 

According to <i>Petra</i> news agency, the King's tour comes within "the intensive efforts led by (the King) to revive the peace process and put ‏it ‏back on its proper track, and support efforts that aim at restoring ‏security and stability to Iraq."‏   

 

King Abdullah's talks with U.S. President George W Bush on Monday will focus on the current developments in the Middle East in addition to U.S.-Jordanian ‏relations.‏

‏In Japan, the king is scheduled to meet Emperor Akihito and hold talks with ‏Japanese premier Koizumi and Foreign Minister Nobutaka Machimura on ‏Japanese-Jordanian relations and means to develop them especially in the ‏economic and investment fields. ‏   

 

King Abdullah will also meet with Japanese parliamentary and economic ‏officials.‏   

 

He will then head to Singapore to meet with President Sellapan Rama and ‏Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on enhancing bilateral relations.‏
