Jordan's King Abdullah II on Thursday reiterated the importance of homegrown reform and the necessity of reform to reflect public priorities and concerns. The King added, in a speech in front of participants at the World Economic Forum Asia Roundtable in Singapore, that ''Regional Leaders from the private sector and NGOs are already meeting to define a new regional vision, a vision for the Arab World in the year 2010''.
According to Petra, he noted to the Asian reform model especially the Malaysian model, which Jordan seeks to benefit from, that succeeded in creating a platform for growth in the various fields.
''Peacemaking is a step toward a regional future of hope. but it is only one step. The Arab people also know we need reform-political, economic, and social. Such reform will revitalize the engines of growth and promote real development,'' the King said, stressing the need of a true partnership between the public and private sectors.
About 600 political, economic and media international figures are taking part in the meeting with a view to exchange ideas on the political and economic development issues and discussing the strategic dimensions of the economic growth for Asian countries.
The meeting, which is being organized, in cooperation with Singaporean Council for Economic Development, is considered on of the important meetings which emerged from the World Economic Forum in addition to the Forum's Dead Sea meetings.
