During the 45th Annual Seminar of the International Insurance Society (IIS) that was held in Amman from June 7th till June 10th, the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Managing Director of Jordan Insurance Company met with Munich Re’s Board Members. The meeting discussed mutual interests and future plans between the two companies.
From Munich Re Group, Dr. Nikolaus von Bomhard; Chairman of the Board of Management, Dr. Ludger Arnoldussen; Member of the Board of Management and Mr. Christian Kraut; Chief Executive, and from Jordan Insurance Company, Mr. Othman Bdeir Chairman of the Board of Directors and Mr. Imad Abdel Khaleq, Managing Director attended the meeting.
The discussion highlighted the exchange of experiences between the two parties, which aims at strengthening the insurance sector in Jordan, as well as focusing on clients and earnings stabilities, and developing the insurance services and products provided by Jordan Insurance Company.
Mr. Othman Bdeir, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jordan Insurance Company said “We always aim to build our relationships with different insurance companies from around the world to develop the insurance sector in Jordan; we also discussed several important topics that would contribute to the development of our future plans.”
It is worth mentioning that Munich Re is a shareholder of 10% of Jordan Insurance Company and is considered one of the world's leading reinsurers; the group operates worldwide, turning risk into value. In the financial year 2008, it achieved a profit of €1,528m on premium income of around €38bn. The Group operates in all lines of business throughout the world and is characterized by particularly pronounced diversification, client focus and earnings stability. It has a premium income of around €22bn from reinsurance alone. Operating for more than 60 years in the MENA region, Munich Re reported a premium volume of €397m in 2008.
