Jordan is hosting a competition for anti-terrorism squads from 18 different countries starting Sunday, AP reported.

The participants include military coalition members currently fighting extremists in Yemen, Iraq and Syria.

Spokesman Col. Khaled Abu Hamad said the event, dubbed the Seventh Annual Warrior Competition, is a good chance for leaders to meet and get to know each other, "as the terrorists have become international," he told AP.

The squads compete in ten events total, according to AP, lasting five days. The competition kicked off Sunday with a drill by Jordanian special forces in which they rescued plane hostages and reppelled from a helicopter.

Among the MENA countries, eight countries have enrolled — Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Palestine and Qatar. The US, Russia, Afghanistan and China, winner of last year's competition, are also participating.
