Jordan to Have First Woman Ambassador in 32 years

Jordan’s first secretary general of the ministry of Tourism, Alia Hatouq Bouran has been appointed as Jordan's ambassador to Belgium, becoming the first Jordanian to assume a high ranking diplomatic post since 32 years, an official said, cited by ArabicNews.com. 

Bouran has a doctorate in Environment sciences. She has 26 written works in the area of the environment and sustainable development. She taught at the Jordanian University between 1984- 1988. 

Only one Jordanian woman had the title of ambassador.  

In 1969, Lourise Hallas was appointed as the assistant for Jordan's permanent representative at the UN – Albawaba.com
