ALBAWABA- Jordanian authorities announced they have successfully thwarted a major terrorist plot involving 16 individuals accused of planning to destabilize national security and incite internal chaos.

In an official statement shared via the Jordanian government’s X account, the General Intelligence Department confirmed that the suspects were involved in a series of security-related activities, which had been under close surveillance since 2021.

During a press conference, a government spokesperson revealed that the individuals had been working on manufacturing missiles using both locally sourced and imported materials.

The plots also involved the possession of explosives and firearms, the concealment of at least one missile ready for deployment, and the development of drone technology intended for hostile use.

Authorities further uncovered a network focused on recruiting and training operatives within Jordan and sending them abroad for advanced instruction.

The case has now been officially referred to the State Security Court for legal proceedings.

The government also announced that it would soon release detailed confessions from those involved, highlighting the depth and scope of the foiled plots.

The announcement, one of Jordan’s most significant security achievements in recent years, comes at a time of heightened regional tensions, as Israeli military aggression continues in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and Syria—developments that inevitably impact Jordan’s own security environment and underscore the urgency of remaining vigilant against internal and external threats.
