Jordan's state security court assigned a defense lawyer for an Iraqi would-be female suicide bomber, who was involved in deadly hotel attacks in Amman last year.
In a hearing lasting only five minutes, the court named Hussein al-Masri as attorney for Sajida al-Rishawi Rishawi after the Jordanian Bar Association last week refused to appoint a lawyer.
Masri was not present in court on Monday but he told AFP: "I consider my appointment legal and sound." "I have nothing else to say before I hear the other party (defendant) and I will carry on my duty to the best of my ability," he said.
A new hearing has been set for May 15 and Masri said he needed to take a look at the charge sheet before appearing in court.
