ALBAWABA - Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein left Amman for Cairo and met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Sunday.

The Crown Prince affirmed Jordan's support for Egyptian efforts to rebuild the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas.

Prince Hussein conveyed the greetings of King Abdullah II to President El-Sisi, and his appreciation for the role of Egypt towards Arab issues and enhancing the stability of the region.

Furthermore, the Prince stressed the Kingdom's support for the Egyptian efforts to rebuild the strip after 13 months of war, and the efforts to host the Arab Summit scheduled to be held on Feb. 27.

Speaking about current developments, the Crown Prince and President El-Sisi reiterated Jordan and Egypt's position on the necessity of rebuilding Gaza, without displacing the Palestinian people.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump suggested that the US should "take over" the Gaza Strip and citizens should be moved to neighbouring countries; Egypt and Jordan. He said that he wanted to turn the war-ravaged region into a “Riviera of the Middle East”.

The suggestion has caused wide controversy as it was rejected by many world leaders including the King of Jordan who flew to Washington D.C. and held talks with Trump in the White House.

During the meeting, King Abdullah firmly opposed Donald Trump's suggestion that the US should take over Gaza and the displacement of Palestinians.
