Jordan Aircraft Maintenance Limited (JorAMCo), a dynamic organization that specializes in aircraft maintenance, component repair and overhaul (MRO) of Airbus, Boeing and Tri-star aircraft, approved by the US FAA, European EASA and the Jordanian civil aviation authorities, has undergone a major growth period since Abraaj Capital, a leading asset management firm, acquired 80 percent of JorAMCo’s ownership in 2005. JorAMCo’s expansion project will enable the company to become a world class MRO aviation company.

The first stage of expansion involves the doubling of its hangar capacity through the building of an additional 17,000 square meters facility, which will be completed by the end of 2006. This expansion allows JorAMCo to complement its capabilities for A310, A320, A340, L1011 and B727 aircraft by adding new maintenance capabilities for the A300-600, A330 and Boeing 737 (new generation and classic aircraft). On completion the facility will accommodate up to four wide body aircraft and six narrow body aircraft at one time enabling the facility to increase MRO turnaround time for customers. In addition, the company’s workforce will grow significantly, by up to 60% over the next two years.

An agreement has also been reached recently with Eaton Corporation’s aerospace business, to appoint JorAMCo as a regional service center for Eaton's aerospace products.

Pursuant to this appointment, JorAMCo will provide repair and overhaul services for Eaton products that are installed on the various Airbus and Boeing aircraft, and will represent Eaton in the region for the promotion of repair and overhaul of Eaton aerospace products.

Bashir Abdel Hadi, CEO of JorAMCo said, “We are very proud to be appointed as Eaton's approved regional service center. As we grow our aircraft maintenance capabilities and capacity in general, our strategy with regards to components repair and overhaul capabilities is to focus on specific range of components, provide superior level of service and be the region’s leader in servicing these components."

JorAMCo is also actively exploring expanding its operations into the Indian market, and currently is engaged in discussions with two Indian companies aimed at establishing the first independent MRO to serve the tremendous growth of the aviation industry in India.

Abdel Hadi said, "During the next two years, JorAMCo will witness tremendous growth as we progress with the implementation of our expansion plans. We are extremely proud to have built our reputation as a respected leader in the aviation industry and we will continuously deliver a superior product that will support our customer’s needs and absorb more aircraft.”

JorAMCo traces its roots to 1963 when it was part of Royal Jordanian’s maintenance and engineering department. It became a separate entity operating under the name of JorAMCo, following Royal Jordanian’s restructuring and  privatization programme.
