Jordan’s King Abdullah met with several world leaders taking part in a UN-sponsored conference on financing for development which ended in Monterrey, Mexico, on Friday.
The Jordanian King met with US President George W. Bush to review developments in the Middle East as well as US-Jordanian relations. In addition, King Abdullah discussed these issues with US Secretary of State Colin Powell, highlighting the importance of the US role in support of efforts to end the violence and implement the Tenet plan to get the peace process back on track.
The other leaders who the King met with on the sidelines of the conference were French President Jacques Chirac, Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar and Prime Minister of Mozambique Pascoal Manuel Mocumbi.
Earlier, the King met with other leaders including Mexican President Vicente Fox, whose country was hosting the conference. King Abdullah, who delivered a keynote speech to the conference on Thursday, and Fox discussed aspects of economic cooperation.
In addition, on Friday, King Abdullah met with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and discussed current international steps to end the cycle of violence in the Palestinian territories as well as Arab countries' efforts to revive the peace process. (Albawaba.com)
