Jenny Sanford, wife of temporarily missing South Carolina governor Mark Sanford, said today that the two have been on a trial separation. That, she said, was the reason she was unaware of his recent whereabouts.
This comes a day after the governor admitted to his wife that he had began an affair about five months ago with a woman from Argentina, who had recently been visiting. The news led to their separation. Jenny now lives, along with her four sons, on Sullivan’s Island near Charlestown, SC.
“I remain willing to forgive Mark completely for his indiscretions and to welcome him back, in time, if he continues to work toward reconciliation with a true spirit of humility and repentance,” she said.
