DP WORLD, UAE Region has been named Shipping Port of the Year for the third time at the prestigious annual Supply Chain and Transport Awards 2010 (SCATA).
The award was presented to DP World, UAE Region, at a gala ceremony held at the Grosvenor House on Wednesday (June 2). The event was attended by several hundred supply chain industry leaders.
Jebel Ali Port, which previously won the Outstanding Achievement and Port Operator of the Year Awards in 2007 and the Port Operator of the Year Award in 2008, was cited for its exceptional performance in the field of terminal management, innovative solutions, improved efficiencies and forward-looking investments.
Accepting the award on behalf of DP World, Abdulla Bin Damithan, Director, Account Management, Container Terminals, DP World, UAE Region, said: “Receiving this award for the third time in four years proves that Jebel Ali Port remains unparalleled in the Middle East when it comes to world-class port-practices and customer focus. It also reaffirms Jebel Ali as the region’s premier port destination. DP World is truly honoured by this recognition.”
The 2010 SCATA ceremony included 16 categories covering logistics, sea freight and air cargo sectors. Nominations were assessed by a panel of experts selected from within the region’s logistics industry.
