Jebel Ali Free Zone “Jafza”, the leading business hub in the region, recently took part in the 23rd edition of Bucharest International Fair for Consumer Goods (TIBCO), which was held from May 31 – June 04, 2006, in Bucharest, Romania. Through its participation, Jafza aimed to explore the numerous business opportunities in the European market, as well as attract significant investments into the free zone, so as to successfully position itself as the leading business hub in the UAE.

TIBCO, the largest event for consumer goods organized in Romania, and one of the most prominent trade fairs in Eastern Europe, brings together leading companies in garments, textiles and leathers, cosmetics and perfumery, jewelry, food products and numerous other sectors from around the world, and provides them deeper insights into market opportunities in Romania so that they can identify potential business partners, and make commercial exchanges between their countries.

Salma Hareb, CEO of Jafza, while highlighting Jafza’s participation in TIBCO said, “The Jebel Ali Free Zone is considered today as one of the leading free zones in the world, with more and more companies from diverse sectors looking to set up business operations here. Our participation in this major event stems from our objective to establish lucrative trade contacts with international businesses, strengthen our position in the UAE while exploring new markets in Romania and attracting significant investments into the free zone.”

Jafza has been offering many incentives for easy, secure and profitable investments during the past 21 years of their existence. The wide range of superior infrastructure facilities offered by Jafza, have encouraged companies from various countries to set up operations in the free zone and explore the huge business potential of the region.

During the five-day event, Jafza held a press conference at the Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Bucharest, inviting numerous traders and leading businessmen from Romania, who held several trade discussions with the free zone. Ibrahim Mohamed Al Janahi, Executive Vice President for Sales, Jafza, represented Jafza at the press conference and highlighted the world-class facilities and the lucrative investment opportunities within the free zone.

Jafza’s representatives Tarek Bin Ghlietta, Regional Manager for Europe, and Mansoor Al Bastaki, Sales Executive, in "TIBCO" also visited the Romanian Trade Promotion Centre, a public institution working for the economic development of Romania in the sectoral and the regional levels, as part of their objective to explore market opportunities and establish profitable partnerships with the Romanian business community.

“Our participation in TIBCO is in line with our commitment to raise UAE’s profile by promoting the various strategic advantages of establishing operations in the country, particularly in Jafza. UAE and Romania have both adopted considerable measures to improve their business relationship, and Jafza’s participation in TIBCO will further boost these efforts.” Al Janahi said.

“By participating in an exhibition as prominent as this, Jafza will be able to effectively showcase the state-of-the-art facilities and attractive services we offer our tenant companies. It will also enable us to closely interact with leading companies dealing in consumer goods worldwide, and network with some of the major players in the Romanian industry,” concluded Al Janahi.

During the event, Jafza also visited the DP World Container Terminal in Constanta (CCST) that handles a mix of local cargo and transshipment cargo for many countries in the Black Sea region. Dubai's DP World recently took over the management of CSCT and the terminal’s capacity has increased to 580,000 TEU since then.

TIBCO, certified by the Union Des Foires Internationals (UFI), as recognition of quality, is a general technical fair with a strong emphasis on industrial equipment and industrial consumer goods, representing a small-scale model of the Romanian consumer goods market. The intense interaction between exhibitors and visitors at the event is expected to build a dynamic business environment, perfect for establishing new contacts, launching new products in the market, as well as getting to know the existing market potential.
