ithmaar bank honoured by royal charity association
Ithmaar Bank, a Bahrain-based investment bank with global reach, received an award from the Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) yesterday for its sponsorship of the education of 16 orphan students every year.
The award was accepted on behalf of the Bank by Executive Director, IT and Operations Jassim Salman, who also presented a speech at the event on behalf of all sponsors of the RCO’s Orphans Sponsorship Committee. The award was presented by RCO Chairman Shaikh Adnan bin Abdullah Al Qattan.
“Companies operating from Bahrain are duty-bound to translate their remarkable successes into contributions towards the progress and development of this society. What we give to this country is not gratitude or charity, but an obligation. I call on all members of the society to continue to support the association’s initiatives,” said Salman.
The Bank is sponsoring six orphan students every year, three boys and three girls, giving them the opportunity to attend top private schools in Bahrain. The Bank will cover their education starting from second grade until they complete high school. A second initiative, in association with Ahlia University, is wider in scope, providing higher education sponsorships for a total of 10 orphan students every year from across the Arab World. These are part of the Bank’s Education and Training Fund, which was launched in partnership with the Royal Charity Association
