The Israeli army is planning the launch a spy satellite, Ofek 5, in the coming year, reported Haaretz newspaper Monday.
The satellite, produced by Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI), will be launched from the air force base at Palmachim, southern Israel, said the paper.
Ofek 5 is expected to replace Ofek 3 which was launched in 1995.
An attempt to launch Ofek 4 in 1998 failed during early stages of the operation, said the paper, adding the army had to rely on Ofek 3 - Albawaba.com
