Israeli tanks killed a young Palestinian man and wounded three other people Wednesday when they opened fire with heavy machine-guns on the Khan Younis refugee camp in the southern Gaza Strip, Palestinian medics told AFP.
The Palestinian official news agency (WAFA) confirmed the report, saying that five were hurt in the attack, including a pregnant woman, Amal Abu Eker. AFP said that she in a critical condition
Mohammed Fathi Qidreh, 23, received two calibers in the chest and the abdomen, said the Palestinian agency.
WAFA added that it was the first time the area comes under attack.
The death brought to 960 the number of people killed as a result of the Palestinian Intifada, or uprising, which broke out on September 28 last year. They include 751 Palestinians and 187 Israelis, according to AFP’s tally.
