ALBAWABA- Syrian state media reported explosions in the western countryside of Damascus late Saturday, marking yet another escalation in Israel’s ongoing air campaign in Syria.

The attack coincided with the visit of Iran’s defense chief, who met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, reaffirming Tehran's commitment to supporting Syria and the broader "resistance front."

This follows a deadly series of Israeli airstrikes last Thursday in Qudsaya and Mazzeh near Damascus, which claimed the lives of 15 people, including four children, and injured 16 others.

The Israeli military stated it targeted "military buildings and headquarters" associated with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, releasing footage of the strikes.

Local reports indicate a shift in Israeli strategy, with raids now extending beyond Iranian-linked military facilities to broader targets within the Syrian capital.

Adding to the regional tension, Iran’s national security advisor, Ali Larijani, also arrived in Damascus this week for high-level meetings with Assad and other officials.
