ALBAWABA - An Israeli airstrike near Al-Tawhid Mosque in the city of Tubas killed five Palestinians, as Israeli troops continue to assault cities across the West Bank.
The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) confirmed that its crews were able to retrieve the bodies of five young men from the strike site and transferred them to a nearby hospital.
The PRCS identified the young men to be Mohammad Saeed Hussein Sawafta,19, Majd Burhan Jamil Sawafta, 23, Qais Saeb Rateb Sawafta, 24, Yassin Ahmed Ali Sawafta, 22, and Talaba Mahmoud Jamil Basharat,18, WAFA reported.
In the early hours of dawn, the Israeli troops launched an escalation campaign on the West Bank city of Tubas, where soldiers stormed neighborhoods and villages in the vicinity of the city, and several troops were deployed across the city while imposing a strict curfew.
The operation was followed by a heavy presence of reconnaissance planes and helicopters flying low over the governorate.
In another escalation, Israeli troops encircled the Tubas Turkish Governmental Hospital on the city's northern borders, closing the roads to it and preventing ambulances from accessing it.
Local reports said that the Israeli troops subsequently stormed the town of Tamoun, southeast of Tubas, as part of what looks to be a large-scale attack on the governorate.
This shelling and raid are part of a larger Israeli escalation in the West Bank, which has recently seen widespread raids and strikes on Palestinian cities. Yesterday evening, soldiers invaded Tulkarm and its two camps, killing two people and injuring 10 others with various injuries.
On August 28th, the Israeli Army announced the "major operation" describing it as the largest military operation in the West Bank since the Intifada (Palestinian uprising) in 2002. Hundreds of troops were deployed to the camps with the support of drones, bulldozers, and live bullets.
