ALBAWABA - The civil emergency authorities in Gaza reported that at least 40 people have been brutally killed in an Israeli airstrike on a tent camp in al-Mawasi area in southern Gaza, with more than 60 people injured as well.
The early morning bombardment on Tuesday struck at least 20 tents in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, according to Gaza's Civil Defence. According to Al Jazeera Arabic, rescuers looking for survivors discovered craters up to 9 meters deep in the ground at the tent camp.
The Civil Defense said that "we are facing one of the most heinous massacres since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, and that entire families disappeared in the sand due to the concussion missiles" WAFA reported.
According to a representative for Gaza's civil defense, the early evaluation of the situation indicated that the strike was "one of the most heinous massacres in this frenzied war".
The official stated that paramedics and civil defense crews were having problems removing the remains of those killed in the heinous Israeli strike.
On the other hand, Israeli authorities claimed that they had targeted "significant Hamas terrorists" who were running a command and control center within the humanitarian zone in Khan Younis.
In a statement, the Israeli Foreign Ministry claimed that "Prior to the strike, numerous steps were taken to mitigate the risk of harming civilians, including the use of precise munitions, aerial surveillance, and additional means,".
Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel
Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.
Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip and captured military bases and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.
In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip. Thousands were killed, and dozens of thousands of others were injured in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
The latest statistics by the Ministry of Health in Gaza revealed that the death toll from Israeli brutal pounding on the Gaza Strip since October 7 has soared to 40,988+ people, with more than 94,825+ injuries.
Since then, approximately 85% of Gazans have been displaced, all of whom are suffering from severe food insecurity, and the healthcare system has collapsed. Hundreds of thousands of people lack shelter, and aid trucks are entering the area at a lower rate than before the conflict began.
