ALBAWABA- An Israeli reservist was seriously injured on Sunday evening in a suspected car-ramming attack at a military checkpoint near the Al-Fawwar refugee camp south of Hebron. The driver fled the scene but turned himself in hours later, ending a wide manhunt across the area.
According to the IDF, a Palestinian driver accelerated toward the soldier stationed at the post, struck him, and sped away as troops opened fire.
Magen David Adom medics treated the 30-year-old victim for severe upper-body trauma before airlifting him to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba. He underwent emergency surgery and remains in serious but stable condition.
The IDF launched an extensive search involving ground forces, drones, and helicopters, along with temporary roadblocks and closures. The suspect, a resident of nearby Ar Ram, surrendered at a West Bank outpost and was taken into Shin Bet custody for interrogation.
Authorities have not released a motive but described the attack as deliberate amid rising tensions across the West Bank.
The incident follows another ramming on the same route days earlier that wounded five soldiers, underscoring continued security volatility. Palestinian officials cite intensifying Israeli raids and settler violence as driving renewed unrest, while the United Nations has urged de-escalation, noting a record 264 settler attacks in October alone.
