The Attorney General's office issued an indictment Sunday against an Israeli army reserve soldier accused of having contact with a foreign agent, according to the Tel Aviv-based Haaretz daily.
Devora Chen, director of the Attorney General's criminal and defense division, submitted the indictment against Australian-born Mark Idan, an Israeli resident. During interrogation, Idan admitted to going to the Iranian embassy in Cyprus, where he presented himself as an Israeli who had served in the army and offered his services to Iran.
According his testimony during questioning, Idan maintained contact with the Iranian embassy in Cyprus after the initial contact. The reaction of the Iranian government to Idan's advances is still unclear, said the paper.
