Israeli Police on Friday morning released Qassam Barghouthi, the son of Fateh’s leader in the West Bank, Marwan Barghouthi, reported Haaretz.
Barghouthi accused Israel on Thursday of arresting his 14-year-old son at the military barrier north of the West Bank city of Ramallah as Qassam was on his way to his grandfather’s house, Army Radio reported.
Barghouthi said his son was innocent and that the arrest was an Israeli attempt to pressurize him over his opposition to the cease-fire. The Israeli army has said it was investigating Barghouthi’s accusation.
Barghouthi has become a pet hate for Israel due to his hardline stands against the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands. The leader, who gained tremendous popularity among Palestinians, is opposed to security talks with Israel and calls repeatedly for the continuation of the Intifada and mass protests against the occupation – Albawaba.com
