The Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) has unanimously approved Wednesday an invitation for Israeli Parliament Speaker Abraham Burg to visit and apparently also to speak before it, in Ramallah, according to HaAretz.

Next Wednesday, a meeting is due to be held in Paris between Burg and PLC Speaker Ahmed Qurei (Abu Ala). In addition to discussing the details of the apparent visit, the two will be discussing whether Burg will speak before the plenum of the Palestinian parliament or only meet with parliamentarians.

Abu Ala had visited the Israeli Parliament in 1999, as Burg's guest, after he was elected PLC Speaker. Burg and Abu Ala held a joint press conference in the Israeli Parliament, in which the Palestinian negotiator declared that Jerusalem was part of Palestinian land occupied in 1967.

Israeli right-wing parties have appealed to Burg not to accept the invitation.

Burg, who left Wednesday for an information campaign in the United States, expressed his wish to deliver a speech in front of the PLC. (Albawaba.com)
