Negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians will take place Wednesday in Washington, Israeli Energy Minister Silvan Shalom told reporters Thursday.
Mr Shalom gave the press conference shortly after meeting with Saeb Erekat, head of the Palestinian negotiating team.
A senior Israeli official said that the decision to renew peace talks on Tuesday had been made during several telephone conversations by US officials, alongside their senior Israeli and Palestinian counterparts.
On the Israeli side, it is expected that Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, as well as Isaac Molho, the Prime Minister's personal envoy, will attend the Washington talks, reported Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
Saeb Erekat will represent the Palestinians, and John Kerry will also be in attendance.
According to Haaretz, is is expected that the negotiations will last approximately nine months, and that Tuesday's meeting will deal primarily with the agenda of the neotiations.
Talks between Israel and the Palestinians broke down in late 2010. However last week US Secretary of State John Kerry was in Jordan to organize a resumption of peace negotiations.
