ALBAWABA - Former Israeli Minister Haim Ramon warned that Israel is facing an unparalleled strategic loss in the Gaza conflict, despite tactical successes.
Ramon wrote in "Maariv" today that the Israeli media is concealing the reality that the Israeli army failed to subjugate Gaza, its "weakest enemies," without a coherent strategy. He said that the administration failed to meet war goals.
Ramon said Hamas rebuilt its strength wherever Israeli soldiers departed, noting the army's amazement at the number of militants in Jabalia after claiming to have crushed Hamas battalions there in the first round.
Earlier, Channel 13 reported that National Security Council chairman Tzachi Hanegbi said Israel had not fulfilled its Gaza war goals.
He said, "We did not crush Hamas, nor did we provide conditions for the release of prisoners or return Gaza border residents safely to their homes." He said the war's goals take years to achieve.
He also said that the War Council had not set any clear objectives for northern Israel and had not set a date or strategic objectives.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Galant have come under fire for failing to dismantle Hamas and release Gaza captives.
According to Haaretz, Israeli intelligence's failure to predict the October 7th attack last year was due to contempt, denial, and a two-year pause in gathering information about Hamas resistance movement in the Israeli army.
Israeli intelligence failure persisted after the Gaza conflict, as most Hamas members did not enter the tunnels after the battle, breaking Israeli army expectations.
