Israel's National Religious Party Leader Yitzhak Levy said his party would consider joining a new national unity coalition only if the government's policies change, reported Haaretz newspaper.

He ruled out any possibility of joining a government set on the policy course, which Prime Minister Ehud Barak charted at Camp David, said the paper.

"It's clear the NRP can't join a unity government on the basis of concessions which Barak made," Levy told Ha'aretz.

He said "NRP inclusion in a Barak government would have to be based on recognizing that "its current policies have failed."

Levy added that should Barak persist with his current positions on the peace process up to September 13th, the date set by the Palestinians to declare a state, "then we would have no basis to cooperate with a unity government, or any other government, headed by Barak."

Levy said the "public is slowly starting to absorb the fact" that the Oslo peace process has not worked. "There's no solution to the Jerusalem issue. There's no solution to the refugee matter ... We should be conscious of this, and not relate to it as a tragedy," he added.

He outlined three conditions which would have to be met prior to his party's inclusion in a unity government: no compromises on Israel's sovereignty in Jerusalem, the Jordan Valley remaining under Israeli control, and no action against Jewish settlements, said the daily - Albawaba.com
