ALBAWABA- Israeli forces killed at least 70 Palestinians and wounded over 390 others on Tuesday as desperate civilians gathered for humanitarian aid in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis.
Eyewitnesses and medics report that Israeli troops opened fire using tank shells, drones, and machine guns on crowds waiting for flour and food supplies.
The massacre took place along the central eastern road, where hundreds had assembled in hopes of receiving aid distributed by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a U.S.- and Israel-backed initiative launched three weeks ago, as reported by Al Jazeera. Instead of relief, the crowd faced lethal force.
According to Gaza’s Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmud Bassal, Israeli drones struck the gathering first, followed by tank fire that caused mass casualties.
“The number of martyrs among those waiting for aid has risen to more than 350, and the number of injuries has exceeded 3,000 since May 27,” he said, warning that the toll is expected to climb due to the critical condition of many victims.
In a separate attack, Israeli forces also struck near the Baptist (Al-Ahli) Hospital in Gaza City, killing two more Palestinians and injuring dozens.
Helicopters reportedly targeted eastern neighborhoods of the city, contributing to a total of 89 deaths across Gaza since dawn.
Medical staff at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis are overwhelmed, treating dozens of the wounded, many of whom sustained life-threatening injuries.
Aid groups and human rights observers have condemned the attacks, calling it a systematic targeting of civilians in violation of international law.
