Israeli forces early Thursday detained eight Palestinians after raiding their homes in al-Issawiya neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem, locals said.

Two of the detainees were identified as Tamer abu al-Hummus,13, and Muhammad Mahmoud, 16, a lawyer for prisoners' rights group Addameer, Mohammad Mahmoud, told Ma'an.

Israeli troops also detained Firas Tareq al-Issawy, Muahmmad Yousif Attya, Firas Mahmoud, Muhammad Abdullah Mahmoud, Mohammad Ali Mahmoud, and Mahmoud Ghrayeb.

Mahmoud added that the detainees were held "outside in the cold" at an Israeli military site in the neighborhood at around 4:00 a.m.

An Israeli police spokesperson had no information on the detentions.

Over 1,000 Palestinians have been detained since the beginning of the month in occupied Palestinian territory, including around 150 children, according to Addameer.

Entrances to al-Issawiya were sealed on Oct. 15 and residents have faced daily search raids by Israeli forces in the wake of attacks that have left at least 10 Israelis dead since Oct 1.

Amnesty International, after visiting the neighborhood last week, referred to Israeli measures in the area as the collective punishment of thousands of people.
