ALBAWABA - After days of besieging, Israeli forces storm Al Shifa hospital in northern Gaza.

Israeli Army Radio allegedly said that no hostages are being held within the facility, while the Israeli forces continue to sweep through the hospital. Eyewitnesses told AlJazeera that Israeli forces have turned Al Shifa into a military base.

Being one of Gaza's biggest medical centers, Al Shifa Hospital has been housing tens of thousands of refugees who fled to the facility in hopes of securing a safe haven from the ongoing Israeli bombardment on the strip since October 7.

Along the course of events this week, more than half of the Gazans who were inside the hospital among refugees, injured people, and medical staff forcefully fled the facility towards the southern parts of the strip.

Like most parts of Gaza, the hospital has been suffering from severe water, fuel, electricity, and medical supplies imposed by the Israeli forces, leading to the killing of a number of premature babies in the NICU in addition to a number of ICU patients due to lack of proper medical care.

The government media office said on Tuesday that the victims of the Israeli aggression on Gaza so far include 4,650 children and 3,145 women, while 29,200 others are injured.

"A total of 198 medics, 22 civil defense personnel, and 51 journalists were also killed in the assaults. The Israeli aggression has forced 25 hospitals and 52 health care centers out of service, while 55 ambulances were targeted by Israeli forces," the statement said.
