ALBAWABA - Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi recently made a remark indicating that his forces are ready to invade Lebanon. This occurs at a time when tensions with Hezbollah along the border with Lebanon are rising.

While visiting the northern area close to the Lebanese border, Halevi spoke about the continuing conflict with Hezbollah that has been becoming worse since October 8. Hezbollah, he said, had "paid a heavy price" for its deeds.

Noting the recent upsurge in Hezbollah strikes, Halevi stressed that a critical time is drawing near. "We are nearing a point where a decision must be made, and the Israeli army is ready to act," he said.

Israel began operations in the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, and has been fighting Hezbollah on the northern front at the same time.

325 Hezbollah combatants, 65 Lebanese citizens, 19 Amal Movement members, 13 Hamas members, 15 Islamic Jihad members, 14 Israeli troops, and 10 Israeli civilians are said to have died as a consequence of these hostilities.
