Israeli military forces operating in the Palestinian areas of the West Bank shut down a Fatah-affiliated radio station alleged to have broadcast incitement-filled content.
The IDF Spokesperson's Unit released a statement early Tuesday morning announcing that soldiers had confiscated equipment and shuttered the Al-Hurriya radio station based in Hebron. Al-Hurriya means freedom in English.
"Al-Hurriya broadcasts harsh statements filled with incitement against the State of Israel," the army said. "It encourages [Palestinians] to carry out stabbing attacks and it even supports violent processions."
The IDF statement noted that in the last month there have been 29 attacks in the Hebron area including 22 knifing attacks.
The radio station supports the harming of Israelis and praises families of those who have died during the execution of attacks, the IDF said.
Last month a Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) representative told the cabinet that senior PA and Fatah officials are involved in the incitement that is fanning the current wave of terrorism.
