The Israeli Army Intelligence chief, Maj.-Gen. Aharon Ze'evi said Tuesday that Hizbullah is planning “unique” attacks in northern Israel in the upcoming days.
He told the Knesset Security and Foreign Affairs Committee that Syria was the primary supplier of weaponry to the Lebanese resistance group, adding that much of the armaments were already deployed throughout south Lebanon along the border with Israel.
He warned that the expected attacks were intended to make Israel respond with force, thereby escalating the tense situation, Israel Radio said.
Ze'evi also said that Iran and Syria have recently tightened military ties, The Jerusalem Post reported.
In comment about planned reforms in the Palestinian Authority, Ze'evi said that Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia viewed the possibility as an indication that Yasser Arafat was losing his grip on control of the PA. (Albawaba.com)
