ALBAWABA - Hebrew media reported that the death toll among Israeli soldiers and officers in fighting in the Gaza Strip has reached 900, with over 6,000 others reported injured.
The figure includes 311 soldiers who were killed on Oct. 7–8, 2023, when Hamas carried out the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation against Israel and the ensuing battles along the border.
In addition, another 589 Israeli soldiers were killed, 456 of them in the ground offensive inside Gaza, Ynet outlined.
It is worth noting that after about 23 months of fighting, the Israeli army has approved a plan to occupy Gaza, starting with Gaza City, Israeli media revealed.
Last June, the Israeli army said that 21 soldiers were killed in Gaza, marking the highest death toll since October and November of 2024, when most of the fatalities took place during that fighting in southern Lebanon amid clashes between Israel and Hezbollah. On the other hand, last July, 18 soldiers were killed in Gaza, many of them in operational incidents, due to "the apparent state of extreme exhaustion after nearly two years of continuous war," the Ynet website continued in a Sunday report.
Moreover, the army announced that 6,213 soldiers have been injured since the Gaza war began; 925 seriously, 1,540 moderately and 3,748 lightly.
