ALBAWABA - Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz escalated his threats against Hezbollah, declaring that its Secretary-General, Naim Qassem, has become a target for assassination, Israeli media reported Monday.

Katz revealed that anyone who follows the path of Ali Khamenei will meet the same fate, implying that Hezbollah's leadership is aligned with the Iranian position. He emphasized that the party will pay a heavy price for firing rockets at Israel, according to Hebrew media reports.

The Israeli defense minister's remarks came amid escalating tensions and heightened military activity along the northern border.

Haaretz newspaper had previously reported that the Israeli army is considering an operation inside Lebanon to establish a new defensive line in light of the rapidly escalating conflict and exchange of fire with Hezbollah.

In addition, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir confirmed that Israel had launched an offensive against Hezbollah, warning of the need to prepare for a prolonged period of fighting and emphasizing that the army had shifted from a defensive to an offensive posture.
