Israel has claimed to have uncovered the first in-country Daesh sleeper cell, reports Reuters.
The cell consists of seven Arab citizens ages 22 to 40, including a lawyer who will be representing himself in court.
They will be tried for planning attacks against Israel and liaising with insurgent groups in Syria.
The accused all deny charges of belonging to an illegal group or aiding terrorism and contacting foreign agents, according to a Justice Ministry spokesman after a gag order on the case was eased.
According to Israel's security forces, it is not uncommon for Israeli Arabs and Palestinians to travel to Syria and Iraq with the intent of joining insurgent groups.
In fact, Israel's Shin Bet said on Jan. 4 it had broken up a cell in the occupied West Bank linked to Daesh, according to the Reuters report.
