Israel to transfer collected PA tax revenues to Palestinians

Israel will transfer part of the tax revenues it had collected on behalf of the Palestinians to the Palestinian Authority, Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni announced Wednesday evening. However, the funds will be directed only to humanitarian needs in the PA, through the special mechanism agreed by the international Quartet.


Earlier Wednesdsay, John Bolton, the United States enjoy to the United Nations, said the U.S. has not yet agreed to the proposed Quartet plan to direct aid to the Palestinians. According to Bolton, the U.S. is waiting for the European Union to complete drafting the proposal, and will decide afterwards.

According to Ynetnews, Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz has ordered to draft a plan for humanitarian aid to the Palestinian Authority, in the framework of which some US$ 10 million of Palestinian tax revenues will be transferred to the PA.
