Israel has promised to "scale down its responses" to attacks from Lebanese resistance fighters, defining the scope of retaliation to Hizbollah operations and avoiding excessive reactions, sources in Washington told the Daily Star on Saturday.
“Israel is promising to keep in line with the magnitude of any resistance attacks and any human losses incurred,” the sources said.
The sources added that several leading countries, including members of the European Union, held intensive talks with the Jewish state advising it not to launch any large-scale attacks on Lebanon.
The states contended that such aggression was unjustified and would not pass without the resistance retaliating by attacking, not just the occupied Shabaa Farms, but also deep into Israel.
They added that such a scenario could cause a regional explosion, when coupled with the situation in the Occupied Territories.
The sources asserted that Lebanon would also take the necessary measures to deny Israel the "pretext" to start an offensive.
