Israeli nuclear whistle blower Mordechai Vanunu was detained by police Thursday for passing on classified information to unnamed international parties, Israeli sources declared.

Vanunu completed serving an 18-year prison sentence in April 2004 for revealing Israeli nuclear secrets to the Sunday Times newspaper of London. As part of his release terms, he was barred from meeting with foreigners and discussing his work at Israel's top secret nuclear facility in the Negev Desert, The AP reported.

Since he was released from prison, Vanunu met some foreign media representatives, but denied passing onto them any classified information.

Prior to Vanunu's detention, police searched his room in the east Jerusalem hostel in which he was staying, Haaretz said. Officers confiscated documents and other materials, the report added. (albawaba.com)
