The Palestinians want the U.S. to continue efforts to save the peace talks, AFP reports.
“We hope (U.S. Secretary of State John) Kerry’s efforts will be renewed in the coming days. Kerry knows the reality. We don’t want these efforts to finish,” the secretary general of the PLO’s executive committee, Yasser Abed Rabbo, said Wednesday.
This sentiment comes a day after Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas began the process to join 15 U.N. agencies, a move that violates previous agreements with the Israelis.
Palestinians were angered by Israel’s refusal to release the most recent batch of Palestinian prisoners last week, according to AFP.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is trying desperately to salvage the peace talks and potentially extend them past April 29. Rabbo suggested that Palestinians will not quit the process before the deadline.
