ALBAWABA - The Israeli army announced Tuesday launching a ground incursion into southern Lebanon amid escalating tension with Hezbollah.

Five rockets were launched from Lebanon towards northern Israel, AlJazeera reported Tuesday.

The Israeli army had carried out airstrikes against Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon. At least 52 people were killed, and thousands of people were displaced in Lebanon, according to Lebanese media.

According to the Israeli army, the attacks against Hezbollah in the southern suburbs of Beirut came in response to a rocket and drone attack by the Iranian-backed group.

The Lebanese group launched missiles and drones towards Israel in retaliation for the killing of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in the Israeli-U.S. attack on Saturday, Feb 28, 2026.
