An armed Palestinian group declared Tuesday that Israeli soldiers had killed two of its men during a raid in the West Bank. Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the military wing of Fatah faction, announced the deaths over loudspeakers in the city of Nablus.
Security sources later identified the victims as Fatah-linked activists. According to Reuters, a local hospital reported it had received the bodies of two Palestinians killed in the incident.
An Israeli army spokeswoman in Tel Aviv said an Israeli force carrying out what she described as routine activity in the city of Nablus fired at a group of armed men, hitting two of them.
Israel Radio also said that troops captured seven "wanted" Palestinians overnight in the West Bank.
