Israeli military officials said Monday that a rocket was fired from the Gaza Strip on a southern Israeli village, according to the Associated Press.

The rocket is said to have landed in an open area and did not cause any injuries.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

The rocket fire comes one day after a pipe bomb exploded on an Israeli bus. No injuries were reported as the bus was evacuated before the bomb detonated.

Sunday's explosion represents "the most serious attack" inside the Jewish state in more than a year.
