Israeli military aircraft late Sunday fired on a Syrian radar post in Dhar al Baydar, in the Lebanese Baqaa Valley, Abu Dhabi TV said.

The report said that warplanes fires six missiles at the main Syrian radar station in Lebanon, where 35,000 Syrian troops are stationed.

It was not immediately known if there were casualties in Sunday's raid.

The attack, the first Israeli-Syrian encounter since Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon took office, comes one day after a Hizbollah border attack on an Israeli tank that killed a soldier.
