ALBAWABA - Following the attack that led to the death of 3 Israelis, the Israeli Airport Authority announced the full reopening of Allenby Bridge and resuming the individual movement and cargo shipments through the crossing with Jordan.

Israel's announcement comes less than 24 hours prior to Jordan's announcement that the crossing from the Jordanian side, also known as King Hussein Bridge Border Crossing, will be closed until further notice.

On Sunday, a gunman arrived at the King Hussein Bridge from the bordering town of al-Karameh in Jordan in a truck and opened fire at the guards, where three were severely injured before being pronounced dead later in the day.

The Jordanian Interior Ministry later identified the gunman as Maher Ziab Hussein al-Jazi, a resident of the Husseiniya area in Jordan’s southern Ma’an governorate.

The attack comes as the first of its kind since Israel launched its latest brutal aggression on Gaza in October 2023. Officials said that al-Jazi was driving a commercial cargo truck where Jordanian trucks offloaded cargo entering the occupied West Bank.

The shooting occurred days after Israeli soldiers withdrew from the West Bank city of Jenin following ten days of vicious raids that destroyed houses, roads, and water systems. More than 30 Palestinians were killed.
