Israel’s Shin Bet security service on Monday prevented the head of West Bank preventive security, Jibril Rjoub, from taking part at a meeting in Be'er Sheva's Ben Gurion University, reported Haaretz newspaper.
In addition to Rjoub, other high ranking Palestinian officials were prevented from taking part in the meeting, whose title was, The Oslo Accords: Reassessing the Situation and New Directions."
No reasons were given regarding Shin Bet’s decision, said the paper.
Rjoub was seen as closer than other officials to Israel, but an attack on his residence in Ramallah last month triggered an angry reaction from the senior official who later refused to attend a security meeting between the Palestinians and the Israelis under the supervision of the CIA - Albawaba.com
